Heavy Lifting and transport for the Rail Sector

GKT’s range of Heavy Haulage Tractor Units & Extendable Lowload Trailers, combined with crane equipped trucks, gives us the ability to transport rail carriages with ease.

In the image below, we travelled to a Railway Station at Portlaoise, Ireland, self loaded 3 x passenger railcars by tandem lift technique, transported the 3 x railcars in convoy to Glasgow, Scotland. On arrival at Glasgow, the 3 x railcars were self offloaded from the trailers and positioned inside the factory entrance door.

Carriage 6111 Was built by CIÉ in Inchicore Works in 1952 and had sat in Inchicore since 1987 when i was withdrawn from service. We had the task of moving the carriage from Inchicore to the Downpatrick and County Down Railway. The carriage was tandem lifted in Inchicore by GKT crane eqipped trucks, loaded onto an extendable low loader, then with the assistance of two GKT abnormal load escort vehicles, was brought to the DCDR where is was once again tandem lifted off the low-loader and placed precisely onto rail tracks.
