CIE Carriage 6111 Transport to Downpatrick
CIE driving trailer 6111 (the former railcar 2624), was set aside for possible preservation rather than be placed on the scrapheap. However, after it was purchased by the Downpatrick Railway museum GKT were given the task of transporting it safely to the museum.

Scania R580 with extended 4 axle rear steer trailer arrives at Downpatrick Railway Museum with CIÉ AEC 6111 on board.
Positioned for Tandem Lift
to2 X Heavy Haulage Tractor Units, Equipped with 150 ton/mtr Palfinger Cranes get into position for a tandem lift, parrallel to the track on to which the carriage will be lowered.
CIÉ AEC 6111 is lifted from the trailer
The 4 axle rear steer trailer reverses into position and the two heavy haulage trucks with Palfinger cranes begin the lift
4 Axle trailer is removed
Heavy haulage tractor unit and trailer drives forward to leave the carriage in the capable hands of the two palfinger cranes.
CIÉ AEC 6111 is lowered into position
The crane operators lower the carriage with great precision until is in place on the track.
